Mengenal tombol computer untuk akses BIOS
Kadang-kadang kita perlu mengetahui basic komputer, salah satu gunanya adalah supaya kita tahu spesifikasi komputer kita, operating system yang digunakan, dan aplikasi yang terinstall dalam operating system tersebut.
jaman dulu komputer hanya bisa di rakit oleh professional, karena terdapat jumper-jumper di bagian motherboard pc, salah pasang maka tidak jalan bahkan bisa mengakibatkan kerusakan fatal/terbakar. Namun dengan teknologi bios maka semua system kerja dalam motherboard yang menghubungkan processor, memory, vga dll dicontrol dalam chip BIOS.BIOS, singkatan dari Basic InputOutput System, dalam sistem komputer IBM PC atau kompatibelnya (komputer yang berbasis keluarga prosesor Intel x86) merujuk kepada kumpulan rutin perangkat lunak yang mampu melakukan hal-hal berikut:
- Inisialisasi (penyalaan) serta pengujian terhadap perangkat keras (dalam proses yang disebut denganPower On Self Test, POST)
- Memuat dan menjalankan sistem operasi
- Mengatur beberapa konfigurasi dasar dalam komputer (tanggal, waktu, konfigurasi media penyimpanan, konfigurasi proses booting, kinerja, serta kestabilan komputer)
- Membantu sistem operasi dan aplikasi dalam proses pengaturan perangkat keras dengan menggunakanBIOS Runtime Services.
BIOS menyediakan antarmuka komunikasi tingkat rendah, dan dapat mengendalikan banyak jenis perangkat keras (seperti keyboard). Karena kedekatannya dengan perangkat keras, BIOS umumnya dibuat dengan menggunakan bahasa rakitan (assembly) yang digunakan oleh mesin yang bersangkutan.

Phoenix Technologies, yang meluncurkan Phoenix BIOS, dan setelah melakukan merjer dengan Award Software, meluncurkan Phoenix-Award BIOS.
American Megatrends Incorporated (AMI) yang merilis AMI BIOS, dan AMI WinBIOS.
